TYPES OF THERAPY OFFERED
Individual Therapy
It is my belief that you have come to my site with the desire of finding hope and improvement in your daily quality of life, relationships and family. You may be struggling with elements of your life that you have not been able to address on your own and are wanting to improve, such as: communication with significant others, building more healthy relationships, self-care, self-esteem, self love, addiction, anger, and up to now have not been able to figure out how to get these needs met.
Therapy can be instrumental in helping you to reach these types of personal goals. I believe that each individual has the capability and drive toward healthy living. However, given some of the difficult and painful challenges we have experienced in our lives, we have not been able to find this type of balance.
Learning new ways to identify, connect with, embrace and ultimately communicate our feelings in an appropriate and healthy manner can have a long lasting positive impact on our quality of life and those around us.

I am here to help you and your child/teen.
I work with families who are looking to:

- Expressive Art
- Play Therapy
- Group Therapy
- Family Communication Work
- Hypnotherapy (age appropriate/parental permission required)
In my work with you and your child/teen, you will learn and practice new skills that will restore a new harmony and healthy ‘parent-child’ relationship, with a sense of renewed connection within the family system.
Family Therapy
Family therapy involves each member of the family and is focused on decreasing the negative/unhealthy interactions that have been the normal way of life for so long. Some of the goals in this type of therapy will be to increase healthy, open, respectful interactions and communication, while decreasing the negative, harmful and potentially disrespectful interactions within the family.
In family work, homework is often assigned and given with the focus of having the “family” attempt to integrate new skill sets and knowledge learned in session into the “real family environment.”
The ultimate goal of “Family” work is to begin building/rebuilding mutual respect, trust, communication, boundaries, limits, and reasonable consequences/rewards. Hard work and diligence can result in a lifetime of improved family interactions.
Couples Therapy
“The only guarantee in marriage is…that it will be the best and the worst thing that ever happened to you…often, in the same day!” T. Johnston
Have you come to the place where you realize that your relationship with your significant other is not what you envisioned it to be? Are you unhappy, frustrated, disappointed and wanting/needing more? Our most intimate relationships can connect us to a wide spectrum of feelings from the ‘best of the best’ to the ‘worst of the worst.’ Being able to successfully navigate the challenges in having a good relationship can be a very difficult task; at times. Our work together can help restore hope and teach couples how to get what they need from their relationship.
Gaining an understanding of the critical importance of communication of thoughts and feelings will be a primary focus in the beginning of the “Couples” experience. You will also learn new ways to begin rebuilding trust, respect and romance.
In couples therapy you and your partner will be challenged to reach the goals that each of you want to attain. Some couples want to be able to communicate without fighting. Others want to resolve issues that appear impossible to move past and to gain a sense of normalcy. It takes determination and hard work, but, the payoff is an everlasting commitment to a healthier, loving and nurturing relationship that can last a lifetime.
Often, homework is assigned in session that will help to carry new skills into the “real relationship environment” to strengthen the therapeutic effect.
I work with couples, who may be married, engaged, living together, or are in the process of taking the relationship to a new level.
Group Therapy
This type of session is designed to include a group of individuals with a common goal/theme, i.e., anger issues, grief, abuse/trauma, depression/mood, anxiety/panic, bipolar, addiction, communication, men’s issues and a wide spectrum of other issues.
During the process of group, individuals will share personal issues/thoughts and ideas that will ultimately help others process their issues and concerns. This is a unique attribute of group therapy. Group members develop cohesiveness, ownership and trust through this experience.
Typically, group size is 6-10 people and may begin as a psycho-educational group and transition into a process group for an extended period of time; typically 4-12 months.
Examples of Types of Groups:
- Anger Issues (Children, Adolescents, Adults, Men/Women)
- Grief (Loss, death, divorce)
- Trauma (Verbal, Physical, Emotional, Sexual)
- Domestic Violence Surviviors
- Communication
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Bipolar
Hypnotherapy
This type of session is generally used with the treatment of psychotherapy and is focused on helping individuals address issues at an "altered state" or "trance" phase to enhance or further the psychotherapeutic intervention itself.
Individuals with chronic pain issues, anxiety, depression, PTSD, trauma and loss can benefit greatly from this type of intervention. Weight loss, smoking cessation, public speaking, addiction and phobias are just a few of the issues effectively addressed.
This type of intervention is equally effective with children, adolescents and adults.
